HJI invites you to the Faculty Roundtable on Wednesday, April 23 at 7pm ET, hosted by Dr. Thomas Walsh, HJI President. Dr. Drissa Kone, HJI Associate Professor of Conflict Resolution and Ministry, will be speaking on “The Root Cause of Conflict and Violence: A Jungian Perspective.”
Carl Jung’s perspective on conflict and violence is deeply rooted in his concept of the Shadow, which represents the unconscious, repressed aspects of the human psyche. According to Jung, individuals and societies often project their own denied and unacknowledged weaknesses, fears, and aggressions onto others, creating an “enemy” outside of themselves. This projection is a fundamental source of conflict, whether on a personal level or in large-scale wars. His theory, deeply connected to depth psychology and spirituality, suggests that true peace comes not from external control but from internal transformation.
