Faculty Roundtable | “Philosophers I Met in My Dreams”
March 25 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

HJI invites you to the Faculty Roundtable on Tuesday, March 25 at 7pm ET, hosted by HJI President Dr. Thomas Walsh. HJI Associate Provost, Dr. Keisuke Noda will be speaking on “Philosophers I Met in My Dreams.”
Dr. Noda, Professor of Philosophy at HJI, recently published two books in Japan: The Philosophers I Met in My Dreams: From Plato to Dogen (Art Village, 2025, 522 pages, in Japanese), and The Limits of Religion and the Meaning of Life: V. Frankl’s Perspective (Art Village, 2024, 279 pages, in Japanese).
At this Faculty Roundtable, Dr. Noda will share the conceptual design behind The Philosophers I Met in My Dreams: From Plato to Dogen. This book creatively approaches the history of philosophy through a playful, narrative-driven journey. Dr. Noda will outline the plot and structure, illustrating how philosophical ideas are seamlessly integrated into an engaging story. Additionally, he will discuss fundamental questions in hermeneutics (the theory of meaning), examining how meaning arises in dialogue with the perspectives of Wittgenstein, Heidegger, Frankl, and with a reflection on artificial intelligence (AI).
Please join us for this informative presentation, followed by a Q&A session with the audience!
We look forward to an insightful and engaging event.
